I can't remember how and when I first discovered it, but like other people, for sure, the Hambleden Valley has a great appeal to me. When driving along the length of it, I never need to remind myself that I'm in the Chilterns. Indeed, this is what England is all about. Choosing just one photograph to represent the four delightful villages of Hambleden, Skirmett, Turville and Fingest is, of course, almost impossible. My eventual decision was to focus on the unusual and majestic Norman church at Fingest from the footpath westwards to Turville. May 1994*
