The small town of Great Missenden is in the Misbourne Valley in the central Chilterns. It has a narrow, curving High Street of half-timbered and Georgian houses, shops, inns and a 14th century church. Author Roald Dahl lived in Great Missenden and it is where he wrote many of his best-loved children's books. The very popular Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre is in the High Street.
