In the 17th century Jordans, a village near Beaconsfield, became a centre for Quakerism. The Meeting House was built in 1688 after James II’s Declaration of Independence allowed Dissenters freedom of worship. The meeting hall is seen from the gallery. The floor of unmortared brick is original.
