The Grade I listed 12th century parish church of St Peter and St Paul in Checkendon has a typical Norman semi-circular apse, while 15th century additions include a Perpendicular Gothic west bell tower with a ring of eight bells. All but one of the windows were replaced in the Middle Ages with Decorated Gothic and Perpendicular Gothic ones.
