We arrive at the hamlet of St Paul’s Walden, best known for its connections to the Queen Mother, daughter of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore. Here the parish church is well worth a visit, as is the Strathmore Arms shown in the foreground of this 2007 photo. The pub is still owned by the estate and in 2014 the landlord had served some 3,500 different real ales over the past eleven years. Food is often available too. GR 195221
