The landscape near Bury Farm. Sharpenhoe Manor (called Bury Farm in 2014) was a moated farm dating to 1197. The most notable owner was Thomas Norton in the 16th century who was employed by Walsingham to torture Catholics. He was known as The Rackmaster General. GR 063309
