The line through Gerrards Cross runs in a cutting and in the 1990s Tesco proposed to build a tunnel here, on top of which they would build a superstore. Work on the tunnel began in 2003 but on 30th June 2005 the partially completed tunnel collapsed without warning. Services were not restored until August 2005.
Here a train emerges from the tunnel and approaches a rather weedy platform.
