The original terminus station was built in 1854 by the Wycombe Railway, designed probably by an assistant to a basically Brunel design. The station had one platform and a train shed that covered two broad gauge tracks. This giant hand-painted mural of the original shed was placed on the façade of the Grade II listed shed in 2014.
