Looking into the chancel we see its 13th century walls and the reredos that matches the screen. The chancel interior dates from 1727 and the architect is unknown. Simon Jenkins describes its impact on an otherwise timid Perpendicular interior ‘like the crash of a Bach chorale in the midst of a Tudor galliard’.
