The entrance to Somerset House from the Strand. Showing the signs for the Courtauld Gallery. This very attractive small art gallery houses some iconic Impressionist and Renaissance paintings among its permanent collection and runs exciting temporary exhibitions alongside these.

The viewpoint here makes good use of the wider scope outside of the covered way and columns. It makes you want to get to the other side to take in the splendour of the rest of the buildings. Nevertheless, the area depicted works well too. The columns are rather grand and it is easy to imaging parades passing through this powerful entrance. Well depicted with the person in centre place to give scale and tell a little story.
