Known by locals as ‘The Church on the Hill’, St Mary’s was made redundant in 1975 but is now in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust and is popular for ‘Champing’ (camping in churches). It is also used for an annual carol service and a host of other festivals. Owing to its lofty position and attractive interior it has also proved popular for film and television work. 2019
