A visit to Pembrokeshire's Skomer Island provides such close shots of puffins that the photographers with long lenses were stumped. I wanted a puffin with a beakfull of sand eels, and here he is. Note how the eels are arranged alternately in the beak.

    Wonderful shot, well executed. Lovely expression of this comical bird's behaviour. Yes, long lenses don't always win the day. As many famous photographers have said… "Get closer!".
