This pub was originally called The Rabbit after the local hamlet of Coney Hill. In the 1950s the landlord's son married Diana Dors, who regularly worked in the bar, which I am sure did wonders for sales. It was renamed The English Rose in memory of Princess Diana, but is now closed. There is a website listing the lost pubs of Luton, 59 of them in 2020, of which this is one.
