The consistently high levels of creative and technical expertise shown in successive Online Photographic Exhibitions are again abundantly represented in the 2020 edition. Adding to the exhibition’s widespread appeal is the sheer diversity of subjects that make up the five different categories. The images were taken in the Chilterns and elsewhere in the UK by members of the Chiltern Society.
Our thanks go to Bob Smith, who edited this 16th edition, in succession to Chris Smith (no relation) who was in charge for many years. Thanks also to Damon Guy, this year’s guest commentator who supplied the highly informative comments on selected photos.
Exhibition Editor Bob Smith
For our 2020 Exhibition 32 authors submitted 314 photographs, both of which were all-time highs. As in previous years, Landscape and Flora & Fauna were the most popular categories. Well over half of the 73 images in the latter category were taken in the Chilterns, while overall a record total of 144 images were taken in the region.
The images selected for the cover picture of each category were chosen because they typified that category.
Exhibition Commentator Damon Guy
Damon Guy has been a photographer since his teens. Once hooked, his interest led to serious camera purchases. Damon focussed mainly on personal projects and interests. In 2000, he got his first digital camera. That sparked off a broader relationship with photography that continues today. After years as a camera club member, Damon went professional in 2010. Now he runs a photography website (https://photokonnexion.com), teaches photography and works freelance too. Damon also manages photographic judging in the Chilterns Association of Camera Clubs. He is an active photographic judge and lecturer at camera clubs throughout the SE of England.
