The John Lewis Heritage Centre viewed from the footpath crossing Odney Common. The centre was created for people to learn about the determination and vision of John Spedan Lewis which has driven the business from its origins as a single draper and haberdasher's shop in 1864, through to the foundation of an employee-owned business in 1928, the acquisition of the Waitrose food shops in 1937 and post-war expansion of the Partnership's manufacturing businesses. The Centre was open to the public on Saturdays in 2017. Will there be more employee-owned businesses in 2067?
