A dedicated chapel in St Nicholas church contains the effigies of Sir Francis Knollys KG (1511-1596) the lord of Rotherfield Greys, and his wife Catherine Mary, Lady Knollys (1524-1568). Sir Francis served as a courtier in the service of three Tudor monarchs and was also a MP. His wife was a lady-in-waiting to Elizabeth I.
