Situated beside the long, narrow and increasingly pot-holed lane from Bix village to the Warburg nature reserve, are the crumbling remains of a small church, well hidden by trees. This was the original church of St James, serving Bix before it was replaced by the current one in a more accessible location within the village. It is another of my havens of peace and tranquillity, reclaimed by nature and a gift for photographers. Another approach to it can be made by using the footpath down into the valley from Crocker End. It can be seen through the mist to the left of the picture. September 2011
