The South Chilterns Volunteers effectively disbanded soon after the restoration of the watercress beds was completed, although some members do still help with maintenance work at Ewelme on an occasional basis. Other volunteers joined a 'sister' group at Henley, the Henley Wildlife Group, who manage four wildlife sites in the town, by far the main one being a corner of Mill Meadows next to the River & Rowing Museum. After many years of patient management our efforts are slowly being rewarded by annual displays of meadow flowers, including the snakeshead fritillary, and assorted insects, reptiles and birds attracted by three small ponds that have been created. This is a green-veined white butterfly feeding on water mint. August 2008
