The management policy at Kingwood Common has been to create a number of linked open glades in the woodland where vegetation is cut to ground level to introduce light and to encourage the spread of heather and other flora as well as to attract insects and reptiles. From one such glade, another one (called Lizard Glade) can be seen through the trees.
