The Red Lion public house in Preston photographed in 2010. This became the first community owned pub in Britain when in 1981 a group of villagers purchased it, to prevent it being developed into a large chain eatery. The pub has won many CAMRA awards and in 2014 was a haven for beer drinkers with five ever-changing real ales and excellent food. The garden is lovely for families in summer. GR 181247
