Moving east towards Austenwood Common can be found St Joseph's RC Church built on land granted to the Carmelite Friars by Baroness Marchesi in 1910. The church is red brick and of gothic style. Started in 1913 it was dedicated in July 1914 but final building work was halted by the First World War and the church was used in its unfinished state. The church was extended in 1959.
