Gold Hill, the largest of the three commons in Chalfont St Peter, is the village’s principal recreation area. It is much used as an area for walking, including for dogs. On it are children’s swings, slides and a youth shelter. Fairs and circuses stop here. Villagers toboggan on the slope in the snow. In the winter, the levelled area is marked out as a football pitch.
