Bourne End station is a terminus, but at off-peak times it doubles as a through station. After arriving from Maidenhead, for example, the driver changes ends to continue the journey to Marlow. The station opened in 1854 as part of the Wycombe Railway line, which ran from High Wycombe to Maidenhead, and was named Marlow Road Station. It was changed to Bourne End in 1874 when the branch line to Marlow, popularly known as the Marlow Donkey, was opened. It is still in operation.
