Berkhamsted station. Originally known as the London and Birmingham Railway, the line through Berkhamsted was constructed in 1837 and was the first UK inter-city railway. The present station was built in 1887. On the north side is what was once the private waiting room of Lord Brownlow, a local landowner. (2000)
