The White Hart, probably originating in the 16th century, was another of the town's famous coaching inns. The bar was a favourite haunt of G K Chesterton who lived in Grove Road in Beaconsfield New Town. During the 1880s the name was briefly, and rather misguidedly, changed to the Manor Hotel. Since it is set back from the main London Road the inn sign was traditionally, and remains, away from the building on the main road.
