The war memorial was unveiled in 1921 by Field Marshall Lord Grenfell who lived at Butlers Court, and was related to the Grenfells of Wilton Park. Originally sited at the mouth of Windsor End, the construction of the traffic roundabout necessitated its move to a quieter spot. Designed by J O Cheadle, it is a lanterne de morts, with an eternal flame (now represented by a light bulb), above the cross.
