The Lee is just up the road from where I live now. It’s surely one of the prettiest villages in the Chilterns, and has often been used as a set for films and television, especially Midsomer Murders. It’s been a regular starting point for my walks for many years, and was the first place I took our dog, Misty, after I collected her from the rescue centre. It’s a bit of a hub for footpaths - there are any number of routes that can be followed from there, and it often acts as a mid-hike meeting point for Duke of Edinburgh Award students. I’ve enjoyed a number of memorable meals in the pub, The Cock and Rabbit. In autumn 2019 a chance encounter on the green with a BBC reporter led to me being interviewed for the six o’clock news about the proposal to make the Chilterns the next National Park!
