Church Alley provides a calm, cloistered approach to the main entrance to the parish church of St Peter and St Paul. There are several suggested derivations of the name Stokenchurch, one of which is 'stockade within the church'. In any event the current church dates back to the twelfth century and still plays a pivotal role in the life of the village in 2006.
