One of three general-purpose shops still extant in the village (but by far the oldest) and The Four Horseshoes pub. The shop's top storey extension and the estate agents next door were added in the 1960's.

Photographs taken at the beginning of the twentieth century show the shop as a post office, grocery, ironmonger and general stores. By the 1960's and 70's, the ironmongery had disappeared and the shop then housed one of two excellent butchers in the village.

In 2006, the post office remains and the shop still provides basic essentials but both butchers have disappeared.
