The Home of Rest for Horses moved to Speen Farm in the 1970s, comprising 130 acres and 85 loose boxes at the stables. It was founded in 1886 near Harrow, caring for working horses, mules and donkeys from London's streets. Some horses retire here when their working life is over and that included Sefton, retired from the Household Cavalry in 1982 after the bomb attack in Hyde Park. The Home was still open to the public in autumn 2005: see www.homeofrestforhorses.co.uk.
