St John the Baptist church dates from circa 975 AD. Major extensions include the 13th century chancel and a north chapel added in the 14th century. The tower and porch, plus a reconstructed north aisle, followed in the late 15th century. The tower has five bells dating from 1460 to 1881.

The exterior of the south aisle was rebuilt in brick in the 18th century.
The unusual dormer window, on the outside of the nave roof, was added during this time.
