Hitchin Priory dates from the early 14th century and was originally a Carmelite friary and convent until the Dissolution in 1539. The property was seriously dilapidated when it eventually passed to the Radcliffe family. The present building was built in 1770-1 and is a commercial venue for conferences and social events.
