Sculpture of Lord Trenchard. In 1914 Rothschild offered his estate for training troops and two years later the Royal Flying Corps moved into a semi-established camp. After Alfred Rothschild died in 1918 the RAF purchased the whole property and Lord Trenchard later selected Halton as the home for the Aircraft Apprentice Scheme.
