We love pumpkin soups and curries, and whilst this year’s crop was curing out in the sun I noticed what an interesting texture they have, especially the base plate, which is apparently known as the blossom end.

Textures in photography are so important. They bring reality to an otherwise plain surface. They also lend a tactile quality to the image, so you feel like you can reach in and actually experience a touch on the surface. This is a very powerful emotional engagement and the best photographers try to achieve that connection between object and viewer.
