We love pumpkin soups and curries, and whilst this year’s crop was curing out in the sun I noticed what an interesting texture they have, especially the base plate, which is apparently known as the blossom end.

They also lend a tactile quality to the image, so you feel like you can reach in and actually experience a touch on the surface. This is a very powerful emotional engagement and the best photographers try to achieve that connection between object and viewer.
