The old village of Corfe Castle in Dorset, viewed from the National Trust castle that used to defend it, before the Royalist Lady Bankes was betrayed during a second attempt by the Roundheads to take it in the 1640s.  It was then ‘slighted’ (blown up to make it no longer defensible) giving us the picturesque ruins which dominate the village today.

What a great castle this is. There are some splendid views too. Great photographic opportunities like this are worth pursuing, especially with family. I have a memorable shot through this very window with my youngest son. Family in a photo often make them stand out in your mind for life. Great view.
