This is a wonderful sculpture, sadly beginning to deteriorate now after 20 years in place. It is dedicated to Benjamin Britten adorned with words from "Peter Grimes", the opera by Britten. This place is special to me. I was in a choir who often performed with Britten (1970s). Evocative for me, but others may view it otherwise... as is ever the case with a photo of a place we know.
