The Great East Window, plus a richly carved wooden screen with carved figures atop, form a highly ornate and colourful backdrop to the High Altar at Ripon Cathedral in Yorkshire.

    The strength in this image is the subtle shadow variations given by the low-level light to the back of this high alter. Nicely photographed. That subtle lighting requires precise exposure since the highlights of the stained glass above could have easily over-brightened the scene.
