It may have been on this same walk in the late ‘80s when we strayed off the official route through the Wormsley Estate, and I saw my first kite overhead. A bit later we were accosted by two members of the family and reminded sternly we shouldn’t be on this path. I told them excitedly that I thought I had just seen a kite (this is a later photograph) but they were only found in Wales. “Oh” said one of the women vaguely. “I think we’re on a flight path or something.” Presumably their reintroduction there at that time was still a closely-guarded secret!
