The floor of the nave of St Mary's church includes this elaborate brass memorial to Anne Casamaijor (died aged 36 in 1786) and Harriet Casamaijor (died aged 76 in 1831). The reclaimed medieval tiles that surround the memorial add to the image's appeal. Close by on the nave floor, but difficult to photograph properly, are some intriguing and much older worn engravings on dark stone, one of which may be connected with Edward the Confessor's sister, Princess Editha, who was believed to be buried under the floor of the original Saxon church on this spot around 633 AD.
