The Olde Bell dates from 1135 when it accommodated visitors to Hurley Priory, the Benedictine monastery. Today it claims to be the oldest inn still operating in the country, although two other hostelries known to the author claim that title. In 2023 it offered curry, steak and fish-and-chip nights. For those who didn’t have time for breakfast, a bacon bap with a cup of tea or coffee cost £7.50.
