The south aisle (shown here) and north aisle each feature beautifully proportioned rows of sturdy round columns (arcades). They comprise twelve columns with moulded bases and scalloped capitals. The resulting arches are all richly ornamented with the distinctive zig-zag geometric pattern of the late-Norman period. Above the two arcades are six Norman clerestory windows.
