The Ship, once a pub and then a shop, is another grade 2 listed building. It was built in the late 17th, early 18th century, with a brick chimney added in the 19th century. Many local people remember it operating as a shop, selling general items and sweets. It has been difficult to find much about its history, but an obituary in the Bucks Herald in 1941 refers to the death of Alfred Bird, who lived with his sister at that address. I have been told that it lost its licence in 1948 for selling beer after hours, but have been unable to verify this.
